Shabbat Hannukah 2
VAYESHEV (And He Lived)
Genesis 37:1–40:23
Haftarah Vayeshev: ‘Amos (Amos) 2:6–3:8
B’rit Hadashah suggested reading for Parashah Vayeshev:
Acts 7:9–16 (specifically vv. 9–10); Romans 8:18–39
“Jacob lived [yeshev] in the land where his father had stayed, the land of Canaan.” (Genesis 37:1)
Genesis 40
9 Then the chief cupbearer told Yosef his dream: “In my dream, there in front of me was a vine, 10 and the vine had three branches. The branches budded, then it suddenly began to blossom, and finally clusters of ripe grapes appeared. 11 Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, so I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and gave the cup to Pharaoh.” 12 Yosef said to him, “Here is its interpretation: the three branches are three days. 13 Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office: you will be giving Pharaoh his cup as you used to when you were his cupbearer. 14 But remember me when it goes well with you; and show me kindness, please; and mention me to Pharaoh, so that he will release me from this prison. 15 For the truth is that I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and here too I have done nothing wrong that would justify putting me in this dungeon.”(Maftir) 20 On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he gave a party for all his officials, and he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his officials. 21 He restored the chief cupbearer back to his position, so that he again gave Pharaoh his cup. 22 But he hanged the chief baker, as Yosef had interpreted to them. 23 Nevertheless, the chief cupbearer didn’t remember Yosef, but forgot him.
Abba Yakar,
Blessed are YOU Adonai Elohim King of the Universe! My Everlasting! My One true love who loves me unconditionally and perfectly! Toda for this new day that YOU have made. In 3 days you say, and I believe everything YOU say Abba, even when they have not come to be yet... I continue to believe because where else can I turn to? Who else will love me like YOU do?
Amos 2
11 I raised up some of your sons to be prophets, other young men of yours to be n’zirim.
People of Isra’el! Isn’t that true?” asks Adonai.
12 But you gave the n’zirim wine to drink and ordered the prophets, ‘Don’t prophesy!’
13 “Enough! I will make all this crush you, just as a cart overloaded with grain
crushes what’s under it.
Amos 3
2 “Of all the families on earth, only you have I intimately known.
This is why I will punish you for all your crimes.”
3 Do two people travel together without having so agreed?
7 Adonai, God, does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.
8 The lion has roared. Who will not fear? Adonai, God, has spoken. Who will not prophesy?
Avi,
Toda Raba for reminding me today what YOU have spoken to me last year regarding my children I remember this word but I remember this word on November maybe I got everything mixed up because last year on this season YOU have begun to awaken me and I can't forget this YOUR in Amos YOU have spoken to me and I even shared this to my Mom, in Landers. Oh what a beautiful Shabbat it is today and I pray that YOU will enable me to enjoy this day once again with my mom or cousin Christy, just have YOUR way today Avi. I pray I pray... I want YOU to be active each day with me, to speak to me, to control my days, my thoughts, my actions, my emotions and reactions.
Romans 8:18-19
18 I don’t think the sufferings we are going through now are even worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us in the future. 19 The creation waits eagerly for the sons of God to be revealed; 20 for the creation was made subject to frustration — not willingly, but because of the one who subjected it. But it was given a reliable hope 21 that it too would be set free from its bondage to decay and would enjoy the freedom accompanying the glory that God’s children will have. 22 We know that until now, the whole creation has been groaning as with the pains of childbirth; 23 and not only it, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we continue waiting eagerly to be made sons — that is, to have our whole bodies redeemed and set free. 24 It was in this hope that we were saved. But if we see what we hope for, it isn’t hope — after all, who hopes for what he already sees? 25 But if we continue hoping for something we don’t see, then we still wait eagerly for it, with perseverance.
Dear Avi,
Oh Holy One of Israel! I keep hoping, I keep believing, I keep watching, I keep waiting, for YOU to carry about YOUR faithful Promise, to fulfill it, in the physical realm so I can eat of it's fruits for YOU have been planting within me seeds of hope to continue believing, and waiting for the true son of Israel whose spirit has not deceit, to come to me in love and united in marriage. Even though how impossible it seems, I will continue to blindly believe because nothing is ever impossible with YOU! YOU are the ONE who gave Avraham a son when he is no longer able to bear but YOU made him a father at an impossible age. Adonai, I don't want to wait any longer, I want to receive it Adonai, please give me my husband since I have worked for YOU and waited for YOU to give me a love that is prepared especially for Zvika and I from YOU. Toda for the vision of confirmation YOU gave to Bishop Eugene. Toda for every confirmation YOU give to me regarding my marriage. He said it's happening soon and I believe him because he is YOUR servant Avi. I will believe anything that comes from YOU, that's how stupid I AM but I'd rather be stupid than be wise on my own because my own wisdom is foolishness after all.
9 “Now the Patriarchs grew jealous of Yosef and sold him into slavery in Egypt. But Adonai was with him;[e] 10 he rescued him from all his troubles and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who appointed him chief administrator over Egypt and over all his household.[f] 11 Now there came a famine that caused much suffering throughout Egypt and Kena‘an[g] 12 But when Ya‘akov heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our fathers there the first time. 13 The second time, Yosef revealed his identity to his brothers,[h] and Yosef’s family became known to Pharaoh. 14 Yosef then sent for his father Ya‘akov and all his relatives, seventy-five people. 15 And Ya‘akov went down to Egypt; there he died, as did our other ancestors. 16 Their bodies were removed to Sh’khem and buried in the tomb Avraham had bought from the family of Hamor in Sh’khem for a certain sum of money.
Psalm 62
Complete Jewish Bible1 (0) For the leader. Set in the style of Y’dutun. A psalm of David:
2 (1) My soul waits in silence for God alone; my salvation comes from him.
3 (2) He alone is my rock and salvation, my stronghold; I won’t be greatly moved.
4 (3) How long will you assail a person in order to murder him, all of you,
as if he were a sagging wall or a shaky fence?
5 (4) They only want to shake him from his height, they take delight in lying —
with their mouths they bless, but inwardly they curse. (Selah)
6 (5) My soul, wait in silence for God alone, because my hope comes from him.
7 (6) He alone is my rock and salvation, my stronghold; I won’t be moved.
8 (7) My safety and honor rest on God. My strong rock and refuge are in God.
9 (8) Trust in him, people, at all times; pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. (Selah)
10 (9) Ordinary folks are merely a breath and important people a sham;
if you lay them on a balance-scale, they go up — both together are lighter than nothing.
11 (10) Don’t put your trust in extortion, don’t put false hopes in robbery;
even if wealth increases, don’t set your heart on it.
12 (11) God has spoken once, I have heard it twice: strength belongs to God.
13 (12) Also to you, Adonai, belongs grace; for you reward all as their deeds deserve.
Hallelujah!!! YOU have spoken once, and I will keep hearing of it Avi! Toda raba for preparing my inimate wedding, toda for all YOUR marvelous plans for all those that trust YOU. Toda very every blessing O GOD!!! Toda Avi, please have YOUR way everyday in me and in all that I do, interupt and just be the manager of my days on earth. I cling to YOU Avi.
Ba HaShem YESHUA, HaMashiach, Amen!
